Condé Nast UK and Zappar have teamed-up to make the June issue of Tatler to life to celebrate The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. The special issue includes augmented reality content which is discoverable using the free to download Zappar app. As a result, users will be able to extract visuals from the magazine, dress up like the Queen or picture their friends wearing the crown jewels (as found on the world famous Cecil Beaton portrait of Her Royal Highness) and then share the images via social networks. The cover also features an exclusive augmented reality corgi which comes to life with Zappar.
Yep that’s the future of tradition media (if it has a future at all) – to rely on the latest technologies and offer enhanced digital experiences to its users/readers. Love the idea and can other magazines will love it too, and eventually add augmented reality elements to their publications.
Finally, in case you wonder the June issue of Tatler is now on sale. The Zappar App is available for the iPhone and Android-based devices.
